Dear Sir Madam

Our members are concerned with the lack of information received so far from the death of a Perth teenager after a fall from a Perth building. This teenage boy has died in hospital after falling twelve metres from a building in Forrest Place.

It is believed the 17-year old was involved in the installation of a glass atrium at the old General Post Office building when he fell at about 4 am 5 January 2017.

My members are are wanting to know the answers to these Six questions.

1 Who is responsible for giving employment to a young man aged only seventeen years old to work at 4 am in the morning on a dangerous job? Is this legal?

2 What is the verdict of the Coroner?

3 Who are the actual employers and were they carrying out correct Occupational Health and Safety regulations and was there fully trained occupational health and safety officer on hand at the time. ?

4 What was the verdict of the Police investigations?

5 Have the relevant union or Unions WA investigated the reason for the accident?

6 Is Work safe still investigating the whole issue? Trusting this is to your approval sincerely John Kemp State Secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union Retired Members Division Western Australia.
