This is a long story for a review, so for those not wanting to read on here is a quick synopsis

The good guys = Flow Plumbing

The bad guys = I can’t mention their name as it is not allowed under the rules, however if you are booking a plumber and not sure of their background I recommend a quick google search of ‘Current Affair Jason Plumber’

Last week we had a plumbing emergency in the house we had recently moved into. A loud bang followed by hot water running through the light fittings under our kitchen cabinets, down the external wall of the house and from under our vanity in the en-suite. We quickly shut off the mains and I grabbed my phone to Google ‘plumber northern beaches’ which lead me to calling what I thought was a decent plumber given the 4.8 star rating with 152 reviews

The guy showed up and after a 15 min review of the outside of the house and the en-suite bathroom told me that the hot water pipe behind the bathroom vanity had probably burst and the only option would be to go in through the brick work on the external wall or totally remove the vanity which would most likely damage it beyond repair. Either way the cost would be nearly $14,000 but they could start the next morning at 7am.

Now I am usually a very cautious person and would always seek a 2nd & 3rd opinion, but I was stressed, trying to manage a Teams call with work etc etc so I agreed………..5 mins after he left I immediately regretted my decision and started to make some calls and messaged the parents WhatsApp group for my kids daycare for recommendations. I also did a bit more digging on google and quickly realised who this dodgy outfit were and that I was 100% being conned/ripped off. I called them and told them not to turn up the next day and I wasn’t interested in their services

The next morning I called Flow Plumbing (recommended from a few parents from daycare) and spoke to the amazing wonderful Dan, he was so reassuring and let me know it was HIGHLY unlikely I would be paying anything near $14,000 he also let me know one of his plumbers James could get out to me around 10am

James was fantastic, he spent time checking to make sure he could pin point exactly where the problem was before having to rip into walls etc. In the end he drilled a small hole in the inside cupboard of our vanity he discovered the pipe had come apart at the connector as an incompatible connector had been used previously. He then sourced a new connector, fixed the pipe, and then patched and repaired the hole at the back of the vanity leaving everything as good as new. He was polite, professional, and efficient we were so impressed…..and the total cost of this job that apparently according to the other mob would include knocking out the brickwork in the side of the house and charging us $14,000 for the pleasure…………..A very palatable $1,200, yep less than 10% of what the others wanted to charge
