About Pichi Richi Railway

SA Tourism award winning Pichi Richi Railway is a narrow-gauge heritage railway which runs between Port Augusta and Quorn through Pichi Richi Pass. This is the most scenic part of the original Port Augusta and Government Gums Railway, commenced in 1878. The scenery features deep rock cuttings, superb dry-stone wall embankments and spectacular iron bridges. Our trains are heritage locomotives and rolling stock, authentically restored and maintained. The Railway Museum is located at the Quorn Railway Station. Our trains operate between March and November and our website lists the current railway timetable. Ideal for passengers of all ages. The PRR organisation is fully volunteer operated.. 1800s train line with vintage engines. Train journeys in restored timber cars pulled by steam engines through rocky mountain passes.
