About Winton Wetlands

Located 2.5 hours north-east of Melbourne, Winton Wetlands is a thriving location for plants, animals and visitor experiences including bush walks, cycling, camping, stargazing and infamous art in the landscape. Whilst the past tells a story of dramatic changes throughout history, today there is new optimism as what was known as Lake Mokoan, undergoes environmental restoration. Natural processes and community volunteers are rehabilitating the land, with native plants covering the bare soil and young trees growing habitat for wildlife. Experience this vast landscape, set on a backdrop of skeletal river red gums, and the remnants of old farming communities. Each visit reveals a new discovery. What will you find?
