"We began our journey with Sid, after a recommendation from a mutual friend. We had never engaged an architect before, and had never Owner/Built before, so we had a steep learning curve ahead of us. Sid helped us to navigate our project, and helped to translate our vision of an Eco-friendly, energy efficient home, into a reality.

Our budget was very modest, and we wanted to keep building time to a minimum, but the vision was to create a family home with no wasted space, in order to maximise our budget, and get the most out of our block. Sid designed a house which was specific to our block, and took into account the position of the sun at various times of the day, and in the different seasons. He also sourced an innovative building product, which was made locally. The product was SIPS Panel, or Structural Insulated Panel.

He liaised with this company, and with us, to tweak the design so it adhered to the requirements of the building material- having prefabricated panels meant that provisions for electrical wiring, windows systems, and plumbing, had to be made from the outset. Double glazed windows throughout completed the system, which created an airtight envelope- barely any heating is required in Winter, even now.

During this time, Sid ensured that we were kept in the loop, and organised site visits to houses where the same panelling materials had been used. It was fantastic to see projects which were further along than ours, and it was also very exciting.

In terms of design, Sid was very aware of our modest budget, and steered us towards a result which we were incredibly happy with. He helped us to prioritise, and politely got us back on track when we were straying from the original brief.

He really listened to our vision of our family home, and we're very grateful to him for designing and overseeing it's construction. His knowledge and expertise, combined with his passion for Eco-friendly, sustainable design, meant that he was a perfect fit for our project. He is an extraordinary architect, and a wonderful collaborator.

We knew we wanted to build a sustainable home so choosing Sid as our architect was a no-brainer. Our small inner city block came with its own quirks and challenges but Sid was more than up for the task. He took the time to understand our requirements, somehow managing to incorporate everything on our wish list into the design. Sid’s pragmatic approach and knowledge of the building process have been invaluable.
